Lakewood CC

Score:  91
Pars/Birdies:  2/1
Fairways:  6
GIR:  2
Putts:  33

One of those rounds where I just tried to get things rolling but it just wouldn't stay put.  It's like when you put a handful of marbles on the table and they just won't stay in one place, right?  Some of the marbles will just settle down and just stay, but then you got the rest of the marbles going off in all different directions and falling off to the ground.

I was 11 over on the front (which I stated earlier..I hate being in the double digits!) which left me in a somber mood going into the back.  It was decent play even with 2 double bogeys in the front nine holes.  Nothing much to say, but I just couldn't get the game clicking.

On the back 9 holes I played better and finished going 8 over..a three stroke improvement from the front.  I managed to get 2 pars and a 1 birdie.  Unfortunately, I made a triple on the 17th hole (par 3) which haunted me.  I ended up getting a double bogey on the last hole which secured or shall I say destroyed my sub-90 2 game streak that I had going.

Looking back at the scorecard, for the amount of fairways I hit, I needed a few more pars..which I was not able to do..and the triple on the par 3 was the nail in the coffin.

I haven't played Lakewood CC in quite some time, but I have to say I am truly fond of it.  It's a truly well designed course.  It places emphasis on making good shots and also tempts you enough where you can try to go for it (or be penalized by going into one of it's strategically placed green side bunkers..which I was the whole round).  I look forward to playing here again.
